The Area and Emporia Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday.
Octavian Dean of Madison is the Area Athlete of the Week. The senior won three gold medals at the Lyon County League track and field meet in Emporia on Thursday. Dean swept the 110m and 300m hurdles. He also took the top spot in discus as the Bulldogs took the conference crown.
Grady Howe is the Emporia Athlete of the Week. The future Hornet has been on a tear the last few weeks for EHS baseball. The senior backstop had four extra base hits and drove in five as the Spartans went 4-0.
