Emporia State junior middle linebacker Landon Boss has been named one of five male finalists for the MIAA’s Ken B. Jones Award. The award is the conference’s official recognition of the MIAA Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Nominees must have completed at least their junior season of eligibility and have a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Boss was the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year for the Hornets and was a unanimous First Team All-MIAA selection after leading the Hornets with 101 tackles and 10 sacks. The Osage City native went on to sweep all six Division II college football All-American honors. Boss is vying to become the second-straight Hornet football player to win the Jones Award after wide receiver Tyler Kahmann won the 2025 award. It would be the first time in E-State history that Hornets have claimed consecutive awards and the first time ESU has had back-to-back winners of any kind since Brianna Schmidtz was the female award winner in 2019 and Jace McDown was the male honoree in 2020. Boss is vying to be the fifth Hornet football player to win the award. The winners will be announced at the annual MIAA Awards Celebration.
