Emporia High softball saw their season come to an end Tuesday in the 5A Salina Central Regional as the Lady Spartans dropped a 2-0 decision to Goddard.
The Lions wasted little time getting on the board, plating runs in both the first and second innings while holding the EHS offense in check throughout the contest.
The Black and Red mounted their best threat in the seventh inning, loading the bases with no outs. However, the rally came up empty as Chloe Steele grounded out to first, Molly Williams popped out to third and Atlyn Heffron lined out to the pitcher to end the game.
Yzabel Ultreras led EHS offensively with two of the team’s four hits.
Alivia Barrett took the complete-game loss in the circle. The senior allowed five hits and two runs, with only one earned.
Emporia finishes the season with a 12-15 record.
