Emporia State sophomore Colby Deaver has been named the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-American, becoming the first Hornet since 2018 to earn the honor.
The Blue Springs, Missouri native utterly dominated Division II this spring, also taking home Central Region and MIAA Pitcher of the Year honors. Deaver ranks in the top eight nationally in seven different categories, leading the entire country in both ERA (1.50) and WHIP (0.82).
Deaver’s first team selection is the first time since Bryce Fischer and Seth Holman in 2018 that a Hornet Baseball player was named an NCBWA All-American.
