Emporia State University has announced plans to keep tuition flat — again — for the upcoming academic year.
University leaders officially unveiled their tuition plans as part of the Kansas Board of Regents monthly meeting this week. ESU says it’s the only public institution in Kansas to propose a flat tuition rate.
The proposal follows a 6-percent increase in total enrollment, listed by ESU as the largest percentage enrollment jump among KBOR institutions, from 2024-25 to the current academic year. It also follows a $30 million financial realignment that erased a $19 million budget deficit.
Board of Regents action is expected at the June meeting. If approved, this would be the third straight year for ESU to keep tuition rates flat. ESU says it continues to focus on producing revenue through increased student enrollment, thus continuing funds for operations, investments into academic programs, enhancing student experiences and augmenting institutional processes.
