Simmons Pet Food says an employee was airlifted after an incident at the Emporia production facility Saturday evening.
Senior Director of Communications Augusta Branham says the team member suffered an unspecified injury and was airlifted for medical treatment. The currently unnamed employee is in stable condition, according to Branham.
Simmons is investigating the incident. Branham says team member safety is the company’s highest priority.
The facility is closed for the weekend. Entrances are cordoned off with caution tape in place as Simmons works through what Branham calls a maintenance process that was scheduled earlier.
