Emporia High’s Chesney Erkel is tied for eighth after Tuesday’s round at the 5A State Golf Tournament at Tallgrass Golf Club in Wichita.
Erkel, the lone Spartan in the field, shot a 75. His +4 is four shots back of the lead and two strokes from third.
He advances to round two on Wednesday starting at 10 a.m.
