An Emporia woman was injured in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at Emporia’s Walmart Wednesday morning.
According to the Emporia Police Department, at approximately 10:30 am, emergency crews were called to the Walmart parking lot, 2301 Industrial Road, for a report of an injury accident. Following an investigation, officers determined that a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by 61-year-old Tamela Watts of Virgil, was backing out of a parking stall and did not see 71-year-old Vickie Krueger of Emporia, who was walking through the parking lot towards the store.
The Caravan made contact with Kreuger and caused her to fall to the ground. Krueger was taken to Newman Regional Health with unlisted injuries.
Watts was unharmed. EPD did not disclose if citations were issued following the incident.

One person has been hospitalized following what initially appears to be a car versus pedestrian incident in west Emporia late Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Walmart for a reported injury accident at 10:40 am. Full details are currently pending; however, one individual was transported from the scene with undisclosed injuries.
The accident appears to have occurred at the store’s grocery side entrance and looks to have involved a pedestrian and a single vehicle. The Emporia Police Department is currently leading the investigation.
