A week after a workplace accident in Emporia, donations continue to help the woman burned and facing a lengthy recovery period.
The GoFundMe account “Support Kristina’s Recovery” on behalf of Kristina Bush has already had its target goal raised once. The original goal of $2,400 has been pushed to $3,500 as donations are now approaching $3,000.
Bush was hurt when boiling water sprayed on her during a work shift at Simmons Pet Food on May 22. Bush’s husband, Matthew Fox, has told KVOE News the spray covered over 50 percent of her body. Fox has also posted Bush received 3rd-degree burns on her chest, stomach, inner thighs and one foot, so she needs a skin graft and may be recovering for at least 6 weeks.
Fox has told KVOE News the couple’s medical bills are covered. Proceeds from the GoFundMe account will help to cover monthly bills and travel expenses for upcoming treatments.
