B&B Theatres is leaving Emporia’s Flinthills Mall next week, but movies will still be a core component of mall offerings to the public.
B&B Theatres says its operations of the Emporia Cinema 8 are shifting to Golden Ticket Cinemas effective June 15. B&B will operate the theater through Sunday evening, saying the business lease was set to end later this year. The company decided to transition its local operations to Golden Ticket “as part of a broader strategic business decision” and follows “a collaborative process between both companies to ensure a seamless experience for both guests and employees.”
Golden Ticket, meanwhile, says it plans to reopen the theater in time for the premiere of Toy Story 5 on June 19. Golden Ticket has offered positions to all current B&B Theatres staff at the mall.
Golden Ticket is based in Durham, North Carolina, and has 24 locations in 16 states. The announced plan has Golden Ticket continuing B&B programs and discounts including but not limited to matinee pricing and the Summer Kids Movie series. Information is available at gtcinemas.com.
Patrons are encouraged to redeem any current B&B gift cards before Sunday.
Separately, construction continues for Ollie’s, with a goal of completion and opening to the public by mid-fall. Mall Manager Clarence Frye says major construction will begin once the ceiling is painted and the floor is polished. Ollie’s is replacing spaces vacated by Bath & Body Works this past April; Claire’s, Buckle and Maurices last year; and Glik’s and GNC Nutrition several years ago. Ollie’s is taking over all the space from the mall’s center court area to Sutherlands and will have about 30,000 square feet of retail space once the store is built.
