The Emporia Planning Commission currently doesn’t have a data center conversation on its agenda for the board’s monthly meeting Tuesday, but it is revisiting another notable zoning topic.
At the request of Emporia city commissioners, the Planning Commission will go back into a conversation about medical-related zoning terminology and uses. A decision on action is pending.
The discussion follows the early stages of development in Stormont-Vail’s public process for creating its own medical clinic, which is now under construction near West 18th and Road G. Shortly after Stormont-Vail announced its plan to move out of its current Cotton O’Neil Clinic space, Newman Regional Health developed a zoning text change proposal that would have other medical providers essentially justify the need for potential new medical clinics or centers in Emporia. City commissioners requested the review after Stormont-Vail had a groundbreaking ceremony for its Emporia clinic.
The medical zoning conversation is the only agenda item for the Planning Commission on Tuesday.
Before that discussion, the Lyon County Board of Zoning Appeals will consider a variance request from the front and side yard building line at 2803 Eaglecrest.
The meeting slate begins at 6 pm Tuesday at the Municipal Court Room.
