Power issues have been resolved after the area’s latest round of severe weather.
Storms Saturday night generated wind speeds up to 65 mph, leading to isolated reports of downed tree limbs as well as widespread power outages. Evergy had over 2,000 outages in several area clusters, including over 700 in Emporia and almost 700 from Osage City to Lyndon. Power issues were notable in Burlington, where the loss of power through Evergy caused issues in what the city called “stable power generation” for the city for much of Sunday. Service was fully restored by Sunday evening. Burlington’s water service was also impacted Sunday, with residents asked to conserve water until power was restored.
Rain totals ranged from 1 inch at KVOE up to 1.80 inches 3.5 miles west of the Emporia Golf Course. Additional totals from the weekend:
*Coronado Avenue: 1.30 inches
*1 mile north of Allen: 0.80 inches
*Emporia Energy Center: 1.75 inches
*Kansas Highway 99 at Lyon-Greenwood county line: 0.90 inches
Dry and pleasant conditions are ahead for Monday and Tuesday, with highs around 80 degrees Monday and highs in the mid-80s Tuesday. Storms return to the forecast Wednesday, with a slight severe weather risk areawide for the afternoon and evening hours.
