Emporia Fire reports limited damage after a kitchen fire at a local nonprofit Wednesday.
Fire crews responded to St Francis Ministries, 1221 East 12th. Emporia Fire Marshal Stephen Beemer says there was a small, accidental kitchen fire that was handled quickly. Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says a pot was left unattended on the stove, causing fire damage to the stove and some nearby cabinets as well as smoke damage inside the kitchen.
The fire did not extend to the wall nearby or elsewhere inside the building. There were no injuries.
