The following severe weather alerts have been issued for area counties:
*Urban and small stream flood advisory: Northeast Lyon, Osage and southeast Wabaunsee counties until 9 am. Advisory reflects up to 0.5 inches of rain with another 1-2 inches possible. Includes Osage City, Carbondale, Overbrook, Lyndon, Burlingame and Scranton
*Urban and small stream flood advisory: Northwest Lyon, east Morris and west Wabaunsee counties until 6 am. Advisory reflects up to 2 inches of rain with another 1-2 inches possible. Includes Council Grove and Council Grove Lake
*Flash flood warning: Northwest Osage, east Wabaunsee counties until 7:15 am. Warning reflects up to 2 inches of rain with another 1-2 inches possible. Includes Harveyville
*Severe thunderstorm watch: Lyon, Coffey, Greenwood and Osage counties until 6 am
*Severe thunderstorm watch: Chase County until 3 am
*Flood watch: Lyon, Coffey, Greenwood and Osage counties until 7 pm
*Flood watch: Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties until 1 pm

The potential for severe weather and heavy rainfall has led to the entire KVOE listening being placed under flood watches.
The flood watches go until 7 pm Sunday for Lyon, Coffey, Greenwood and Osage counties and until 1 pm for Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties. It has been issued in response to a slight severe weather risk that covers the entire area through the weekend. Any storms that develop, likely between the late afternoon to mid evening hours, could be capable of producing heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams and other low lying areas. Widespread totals of 1-3 inches of rain are expected, although some locations may receive 6-plus inches of rain.
Area counties remain in severe thunderstorm watches. Lyon, Coffey, Greenwood and Osage counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 6 am, while Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties are under a watch until 3 am. Wind gusts up to 70 mph and

8 pm Saturday: Several area counties in severe thunderstorm watch
The potential for severe storm activity in the KVOE listening area is steadily rising for the evening and overnight hours Saturday into Sunday.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties within the listening area now through 3 am Sunday. The main hazards with any storms that may develop will be heavy rain and damaging winds up to 70 mph, with rain totals in excess of 1 to 3 inches possible, which could lead to localized flooding.
Thus far, the only area county with a flood-related advisory is Wabaunsee County, which remains in a flood watch through Sunday afternoon. Following the potential round of storms in the evening to overnight hours, the listening area remains in a slight severe weather risk category Sunday afternoon, with high winds and flooding again serving as the chief concerns.

Severe weather will be a high likelihood through the upcoming weekend.
The National Weather Service currently has Lyon and all surrounding counties in a slight to marginal risk area for the late afternoon to early evening hours, mainly 4 to 8 pm. The main concerns for storms that do develop will be the potential for damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
At this time, NWS has placed Wabaunsee County in the KVOE listening area in a flood watch from Saturday night through Sunday evening with the potential for upwards of 1.75 inches and higher through the weekend. The area will remain in a slight risk category into Sunday, with storms possibly firing by the late morning and early afternoon, exiting the area possibly by 1 pm.
