he potential for storms, heavy rainfall and severe weather does not come at a good time for Hartford, which is still cleaning up from damaging windstorms that hit the community Saturday morning. Mayor Kenny Hamman says work is underway to minimize any additional damage with storms possible at times through Saturday night.
Hamman says City Hall had more damage than what was first evident.
Hamman says there is other work ahead before the structural repairs can begin. A false ceiling has to be removed before the roof work can commence.
Hamman says there were no items or operations on the top floor, so that is a bit of good news. However, it’s too early to say whether this will lead to a more extensive repair project for other parts of the building and the final cost is pending after an insurance adjustment review that’s still pending.
Hartford City Hall was built in 1883, according to Lyon County records.
Over the weekend, Hamman said he did not anticipate any adjustments in operations at City Hall. That still holds true.
