Storms return to parts of the KVOE listening area by late Wednesday night. A few might be severe.
The National Weather Service says storms may affect areas along and west of the Kansas Turnpike from shortly before midnight to shortly before sunrise Thursday. Storms may be losing their intensity as they approach Emporia, but they could generate wind gusts up to 65 mph and drop heavy rainfall before they dissipate. Areas west of the Turnpike are in a marginal severe weather risk.
Storms may redevelop Thursday, with Lyon and surrounding counties in a marginal risk for wind gusts at or above 60 mph. Currently, the Weather Service says the main risk time period is late afternoon to evening, although it could extend into early Friday morning.
After several days of pleasant temperatures and humidity levels, conditions get warmer and stickier Wednesday with highs in the low 90s and heat index readings in the upper 90s. Shower and thunderstorm chances persist into Sunday.
KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates.
