The damage incident reported early last week at the Olpe Fire Station is being investigated as a suspected arson incident.
Lyon County Deputy Sarah Werle says there was a report of suspected criminal damage, leading to the discovery of road debris consistent with fireworks.
Initially, the report involved just the fire station at 204 West Bitler — but now it also involves the Olpe Maintenance Building at 209 West Bitler, or across the street. Both have broken glass, burns and dents consistent with fireworks use nearby.
The incident was reported around 9 pm Saturday. Werle says the incident is believed to have happened earlier in the day. There is no word yet on the person or number of people who may be involved.
