An investigation is underway after an alleged law enforcement pursuit beginning near Emporia led to an arrest in town Sunday.
Emporia Police Sgt Lane Doty says the incident began when a transit van was driving through gated rural property in the 1300 block of Road J on Sunday. Lyon County deputies were initially called to investigate. Emporia Police officers then got involved after the van was allegedly involved in a non-injury hit-and-run crash at 6th and Prairie.
Doty says the van was later found in the area of the 300 blocks of Elm and Oak. The van began circling that immediate area in an attempt to avoid law enforcement, according to Doty, but the van was stopped near 6th and Rural.
No injuries were reported. The driver was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude, leaving the scene of a hit-and-run crash and unspecified traffic offenses. The driver’s name has not been released.
