Court processes have started for an Emporia woman after an injury crash in south Lyon County this past weekend.
Lisa Rickabaugh, age 44, had her first court appearance Tuesday. She’s charged with one count of aggravated battery DUI causing great bodily harm or disfigurement after Sunday’s crash at the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 40. There are also three alternate counts, all involving felony DUI third offense.
Rickabaugh is accused of driving while intoxicated before rear-ending a UTV driven by 74-year-old Danny Eugene Broyles, sending the UTV into a ditch and sending Broyles by airlift to Stormont Vail in Topeka for suspected serious injuries. Lyon County deputies say Rickabaugh’s blood alcohol content was at 0.20, or 2.5 times the legal limit of 0.08, shortly after the wreck at 10 am. Her preliminary hearing is Aug 10.
