Growing up in his home country of Ghana, Emporia State Track and Field athlete Israel Domeh had the option of participating in the sport of soccer; however, he chose a completely different track, pun fully intended, altogether.
While Domeh may not have pursued the World’s Game like others, his decision still led him to the world stage on more than one occasion over the last month. Domeh, like many, volunteered to assist with aspects of the FIFA World Cup matches held in Kansas City and touched the field for nearly every contest played at Arrowhead Stadium.
Domeh says it was a life-altering opportunity to stand on the same field as some of the sport’s greatest players.
Included in the list of matches Domeh took part in was Ghana’s match against Colombia. Domeh says he felt honored to be on the pitch that day and says that while his path to the World Cup may not have been the same as others, it was a confirmation he made the right choice in his sports journey, saying this was just the latest in a so many blessings his path led him to.
Domeh also stated he felt an extra sense of pride during his time at the matches, saying it was an opportunity to represent both Ghana and Hornet Nation, which has always felt like his second home.
