From kids games to sports to classic vehicles to food, Olpe Downhome had it all this weekend.
Activities started at 6:30 am with breakfast at Olpe United Methodist Church and didn’t stop until the final notes leading a street dance at midnight. Organizer and Downhome Committee member Emily Steinlage was glad to see the turnout after months of meetings and other conversations about the schedule.
Next year is big for both the event and the community because Downhome is marking 25 years in its current format and Olpe is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Steinlage says conversations are already underway for Downhome’s presence in the overall celebration.
Attendance was strong for activities like the kids’ fishing derby, as well as the parade, Olpe Fire Department’s annual pulled pork dinner and bed races.
