As they did Thursday, scattered showers and storms led to isolated rainfall accumulations Friday.
Storms brought 0.20 inches to Neosho Rapids, as reported by a KVOE listener — and nothing to the KVOE studios or the Emporia Municipal Airport, the National Weather Service’s official reporting station.
Storms on Thursday dumped anywhere from sprinkles to 2 inches of rain areawide, with the heaviest totals near Thorndale. The KVOE studios got over an inch, while the Municipal Airport got less than 0.10 inches.
Storms could return to the area Saturday and Sunday afternoons, but they may well be isolated in nature both days.
Air temperatures in the low 90s Sunday will lead to heat index readings near 100 degrees during the afternoon. High temperatures near 100 on Monday will push heat index readings to as high as 105.
If you have rain totals, either from Friday specifically or since isolated showers and storms began affecting the area Wednesday afternoon, message the KVOE Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 620-342-5863.
