Hot and sticky conditions greeted participants of the annual Lunar Ride on Saturday.
Among this year’s participants was Jacob Schneller of Lawrence, who finished off a training session with his first-ever time at the Lunar Ride. He tells KVOE News rides with his dad got him hooked.
Schneller rode in the Unbound Gravel 100-mile race earlier this year, and the two experiences were vastly different on a lot of levels, whether it was the weather — hot and sticky Saturday, a combination of wind, heat, humidity, mud and storms for Unbound — or the vibe.
Schneller enjoys both the causal and competitive sides of the sport.
Cyclists could go south on 30- or 50-miles, departing from Merchant Cycles and ending their rides at Mulready’s Pub. Blues musician Brody Buster performed live music to entertain the crowd outside Mulready’s as riders came back into town.
