Chase County Care and Compassion is getting nearly $100,000 to bolster health initiatives benefiting several partners.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has announced plans to fund 3 different improvements:
*$50,000 will go to fund a brand-new Chase County Trail map in hardcopy and digital formats, with a digital webpage and billboards getting funds through the overall total. Part of the money will also go to concrete pads for covered benches, bike repair stations, trash cans, solar lights and a picnic table for the Community Connection Trail. Strong City is the project partner
*$25,000 will be set aside as leverage with other funds to replace the C4 Food Pantry roof
*$20,000 will pay for a hardcopy and digital community-wide resource guide aimed at people who have limited to no access to Internet. Chase County Health Department and Unite Us, a “coordinated care” online platform connecting people with local food security resources, are partners with C4
The grant disbursements are part of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas’ Pathways to a Healthy Kansas grant program designed to improve behavioral health, physical activity, healthy diets and preventing tobacco use.
Several check presentations are coming Friday, with the first one at the C4 Food Pantry, 601 N Elm, at 10:30 am. There will also be presentations at the Strong City office, 204 West Topeka, and the Chase County Health Department, 310 South Walnut in Cottonwood Falls.
