A man is in custody following a vehicle pursuit over the weekend.
According to the Emporia Police Department, the incident began around 1:30 pm Saturday when officers were called to east Emporia for a report of a crime in progress.
As officers arrived, they observed an individual they believed to be involved in the incident leaving the scene in a white Ford F-250 pickup. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop for further investigation; however, the driver, 41-year-old Rolando Galindo, fled, triggering a pursuit which saw the truck drive through a fence belonging to Bungee.
Despite the collision, the truck continued and proceeded south through Emporia, exiting the city limits where the vehicle entered a field and became disabled. Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted EPD after the pursuit exited the city limits.
Galindo was apprehended and booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
Formal charges are pending at last word.
