Emporia High has turned to one of its own to lead the school’s diving program.
The school announced Tuesday that Haylee Weiss has been named the head coach of the Lady Spartan diving team following the retirement of longtime coach Barb Clark.
Weiss, a 2019 Emporia High graduate, is no stranger to success in the pool. She captured three state diving championships during her standout high school career.
In her new role, Weiss will oversee the girls program during the spring season while continuing to coach the Spartan boys team during the winter, giving Emporia High a single head coach for both diving programs.
Weiss succeeds Clark, who retired after guiding the Lady Spartans’ diving program and helping develop numerous successful divers over the years.
With her championship pedigree and familiarity with the Black and Red, Weiss will look to continue the tradition of success for Spartan diving.
