Two Kansas counties have filed formal charges against a special education teacher after alleged illegal sexual activity with a child.
Cristen Bahr, 45, faces single counts of criminal sodomy, indecent solicitation of a child and electronic solicitation of a child in Elk County after alleged illegal activity with a 15-year-old last month. Charges were filed July 22. Court documents on the Kansas Courts Case Search website accuse Bahr of being involved in oral sex and using Snapchat to solicit the teenager.
Bahr was also charged in Greenwood County on July 14, although formal charges posted to the Kansas Courts Case Search website indicate alleged criminal activity earlier this month instead of June. Bahr faces single counts of distributing a small amount of marijuana, using a cell phone to commit a felony, aggravated child endangerment, contributing to a child’s misconduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor and unspecified unlawful acts. The misconduct count involves allegedly sheltering or concealing the teenager, while the unlawful acts charge involves distributing cigarettes to an underage person.
USD 282 West Elk has said Bahr was a special education teacher in the district’s preK-12 school but is no longer working for the district.
Bahr has a first appearance in Elk County on Aug 12. Bahr has already had a first appearance in Greenwood County and is set for a preliminary hearing Sept 25.
