Advance voting continues across Kansas.
Lyon County Election Officer Amie Jones says 100 people voted in advance at the County Courthouse on Wednesday, the highest daily total so far this election cycle. Nearly 800 people have now cast their ballots in person ahead of Tuesday’s primary.
Not all of the county’s over 400 mail-in ballots have been returned. Of those that have, 230 have been accepted and 24 have been rejected.
For Lyon County voters, the ballot includes Republicans running for Lyon County Commission District 1, incumbent Ken Duft and challenger Rolland Trahoon II, as well as Republicans running to succeed Brad Barrett in the Kansas House 76th District District, Art Freund, Russel Stukey and Mark Weiser. Precinct committee representatives are on all ballots this cycle, as is a constitutional amendment designed to change the initial selection method for Kansas Supreme Court justices from Nominating Commission to public vote.
Advance voting continues in the Lyon County Courthouse from 8 am to 5 pm Thursday and Friday. Hours are shorter on Monday, going from 8 am to noon.
Polls will be open from 7 am to 7 pm Tuesday, and KVOE will have complete election coverage beginning shortly after the polls close.
