Emporia Police Master Patrol Officer Gabe Withington has a new assignment.
Withington has been named as the department’s first School Resource Officer at Emporia High School as part of an agreement forged between EPD and USD 253 Emporia Public Schools earlier this year.
Withington is a graduate of Emporia High and brings more than 10 years of law enforcement experience to his new role, with highlights including time as a field training officer, Taser instructor and narcotics investigator. Withington served in Afghanistan and is a disabled combat veteran who holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration.
Withington’s new role at Emporia High includes serving as an on-campus mentor and resource while supporting school safety and offering safety education.
