Political races that didn’t get a lot of attention during the primary cycle because only one party was on the ballot are starting to pick up steam.
Democrat Maddison Glover has a campaign kickoff event coming at 6 pm Friday at the Lyon County Democrats party office, 718 Commercial. Glover is running against Kansas House 60th District Representative Mark Schreiber, who has served the district since 2017.
The House 76th District covering parts of Lyon and most of Coffey and Osage counties has a challenge as well. Republican Russel Stukey and Democrat David Claridge are working to succeed Republican Brad Barrett, who decided against serving a second term in office due to work constraints.
House 13th District Republican Duane Droge, who has served the district since 2023, is facing a challenge from Democrat Mark Remmert. The district covers southwest Lyon County, as well as all of Chase County along with Greenwood County essentially along and north of US Highway 400.
The general election is Nov 3. Voter registration is open through Oct 13. KVOE and KVOE.com will have information through the general election cycle.
