Classes begin Monday at Emporia State University, and President Matt Baker is ready for the work ahead.
Baker began his first full year as ESU president by helping out — somewhat — during Hornet Move-In Day this past Thursday.
Baker says it’s important to have the entire college involved in welcoming its newest students.
Baker says move-in “didn’t skip a beat” after a roughly 90-minute power outage occurred in the middle of those activities.
Since coming to ESU from a lengthy career at Northwest Missouri, Baker has been championing the “One ESU” concept for operations.
Baker says he’s “incredibly confident” in the work being done at ESU.
Baker says a college student’s journey actually begins with initial recruitments that can start as early as their sophomore years of high school. One on campus and attending classes, Baker says the university’s job is to challenge students and support them on their ways to degrees and productive lives after college.
