The Emporia State soccer team has been slotted seventh in the MIAA Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll released on Wednesday. Washburn, the 2023 & 2024 MIAA champions, are the pick to win the league in 2026 with seven first-place votes. They finished undefeated but runners-up in the league last year to upstart Pittsburg State, winners of the league last year in just the Gorillas’ second season of existence. They were picked second with six first place votes. Central Missouri, Missouri Western, and Central Oklahoma round out the top five. The season opens up in Division II on Thursday, August 27 with MIAA action beginning on Friday, September 18. The Lady Hornets are set for a road trip to open the season at Drury.
