This weekend will be busy for Mike Argabright.
The state’s 17th District Senator is traveling to Louisville, Kentucky, to be part of the Henry Toll Fellowship as offered by The Council of State Governments. Argabright sees this as an opportunity to meet with people involved in all three branches of government — legislative, executive and judicial — and discuss the range of issues at hand in crafting sound state policy. He expects some common ground and some variances.
Argabright had to apply and then be nominated by colleagues. He says he has been involved with other Council of State Government activities as he continues his first term in office in Topeka.
Looking at current discussions on state policy, Argabright says an education funding package and property tax are front-and-center for lawmakers. However, data center policy has fast moved to the top of the list.
Argabright says he wants to learn more about how other states handle the top issues in Kansas.
Specialized training on communication, collaboration and decision-making skills goes through Tuesday.
