Cases are increasing, but the rate of increase is slowing for the ongoing cyclosporiasis outbreak in Kansas.
The Department of Health and Environment lists 807 total cases since the outbreak began in May, up from 748 last week and 615 two weeks ago. So far, there have been 35 hospitalizations with no deaths. Over 170 cases are pending interviews as of Wednesday.
Local and area cases have been low in number since the outbreak started making national news in late June. Lyon County remains at 7 cases. Coffey and Wabaunsee counties still have up to 5 cases each. Osage County still has 10 cases. Chase, Greenwood and Morris counties still have no cases.
