A formal criminal case has been filed against an Emporia man accused of holding a woman against her will this past weekend.
Prosecutors have charged Brent Hardin with one count of aggravated kidnapping with an alternate count of criminal restraint. The legal complaint also includes single counts of aggravated battery, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon and criminal damage to property. A potential count of distributing methamphetamine is not listed, but single counts of possessing meth, marijuana and paraphernalia are.
A first court appearance took place Thursday, setting up Hardin for a preliminary hearing October 7.
Hardin is accused of holding a woman against her will after the woman allegedly went to Hardin’s house in the 1000 block of Weaver this past weekend. Hardin is accused of threatening the woman with a gun and hitting her. Hardin was arrested Monday.
