This is a busy weekend for Beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention.
On Saturday, Kansas Sidewinders Motorcycle Club will have its second Ride for Life Poker Run. Beacon for Hope Director Melissa Owen says the Sidewinders have made sure all street-legal, motorized vehicles can be involved.
The poke run is $20 per hand. Registration begins at the Beacon for Hope office, 1225 West 6th, at 9 am, with stops at Wigz BP in Olpe, Wildcat Grill in New Strawn, The Dog House in Waverly, Heidi Inn in Lebo and the Dark Horse Saloon in Emporia.
Sunday, meanwhile, is all about the 4th annual Corky’s Cupboard Car Show at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Owen says these 2 events get life-saving help to reach different demographics with the same message.
Car show activities go from 1-4 pm, including raffles, Top 10 trophies and Hot Wheels races. Registration and trophy voting will be either by free will donation or donation of nonperishable food items.
