Conditions were nearly ideal for Thursday night’s lunar eclipse.
Partly cloudy conditions were in place for the near-total eclipse. ESU Peterson Planetarium Director and physics instructor Mark Brown says lunar eclipses can show different changes in the atmosphere.
Brown says there will be 2 penumbral eclipses next year, but because the moon won’t totally get into the Earth’s shadow, they likely won’t be noticeable here. The next notable lunar eclipse for the area won’t be until a partial eclipse in February 2028.
