Residents still have some time if they want to participate in Emporia’s ongoing Rail Corridor Safety Improvement Program.
The survey remains available at corridorsafetyimprovements.com. You are encouraged to click the “Share Your Feedback” link at the top of the page, click on the Feedback Editor left of the corridor’s main map, click on the “Comment” icon and click on the map where you want to highlight any issues or concerns. A form will appear where you can leave comments and, if you want, upload files. You can also view prior feedback.
The survey process is one of several components in an effort to upgrade safety at Emporia’s 15 crossings between State and Weaver. There are still plans to have in-person public meetings and a finished report by spring 2027. Already, there have been conversations about the possible additions of cul-de-sacs or overpasses as potential safety solutions.
