An Emporia man originally accused of choking a woman in one incident early this year and then trying to run her down with a truck in a second incident has accepted plea agreements in the resulting criminal cases working through Lyon County District Court.
Last week, Seth Giroux pleaded no contest to a single count of aggravated assault and 2 counts of criminal damage, all stemming from a choking incident on New Year’s Day. Charges including attempted aggravated battery and traffic counts were dismissed.
Giroux also pleaded to battery and criminal threat in a case where he allegedly tried to hit a woman with a pickup. The lead count in that case was originally aggravated battery.
Giroux’s sentencing length is pending, but documents posted to the Kansas Judicial Branch’s online portal indicate prosecutors have agreed not to revoke probation for the Jan 1 incident.
Giroux, 26, will be sentenced October 19 for both cases.
