The annual Steve’s Stableford Classic took place at the Emporia Golf Course in hot, dry and breezy conditions this past weekend.
Taking first place were Alan Hoggatt and Dennis Gisel with 10.75 points. Second were Dave and Jelinda Watts with 10.25 points. In third were Robert Ward and Mark Woolery with 8.5 points.
Nearly 80 2-person teams were involved this weekend.
The golf tournament is named in memory of Steve Sauder, KVOE’s station owner who started the event more than 30 years ago and passed away early last year. The modified Stableford scoring system gives golfers points for scores relative to par on every hole as opposed to the normal scoring system.
