Sales of the Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill and the former Goodcents locations can proceed after an auction in Emporia on Tuesday.
Both properties were on the auction block after back taxes began piling up. Bruffs, 2640 West 18th, was in arrears nearly $50,000 in taxes and penalties between 2023-2025, while Goodcents, 1004 East 12th, was behind almost $22,500 over the same period. Neither property sold Tuesday, but Farmers State Bank of Aliceville ultimately decided to pay the back taxes and penalties so sales of both properties can move forward.
Farmers State Bank foreclosed on both properties in late June after loan defaults from Jermy Hinkle, Nicolas Cerretti and CMR Holdings LLC.
Goodcents closed in early November 2025. Court documents on the Kansas Judicial Branch online portal say Bruffs was “abandoned” this past May.
