The Emporia High volleyball team continued its strong start to the season Thursday, picking up three victories at Topeka West High School.
The Lady Spartans opened the night against the host Chargers, dropping the first set 25-21. Emporia bounced back in a big way, taking the next two sets 25-19 and 25-14 to win the match in three sets.
The Black and Red carried that momentum into their matchup with Topeka High. Emporia battled through a tight opening set, edging the Trojans 28-26 before closing out the match with a 25-14 win in the second set.
Emporia saved its third victory for the final match of the night, defeating Junction City in straight sets, 25-17 and 25-20.
With the three-match sweep, Emporia High improves to 6-3 on the season.
The Lady Spartans will return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Valley Center Volleyball Invite.
