Great American Market typically fills up quickly, and Saturday’s rendition is no different.
Spaces have been claimed for months. Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says there will be a lot of shopping options, including antiques, artwork, clothing, handmade gifts, home decor and plants. There will also be a number of food trucks available.
Activities are from 7 am to 4 pm Saturday for the Great American Market. Vendors will be available on Commercial from 6th to 12th as well as the 10 blocks of 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th both east and west of Commercial.
Immediately following Great American Market, Woods heads overseas for the official launch of Main Street Japan.
Woods sees a lot of opportunities possible in the long term, although it may well take time to develop them.
Woods has been to Osaka, Japan, over the last year to discuss the Emporia approach towards rural economic development. Main Street programs are also getting started in Australia, Europe and India.
Following that trip, Main Street gets ready for the Apella All-Class Reunion on September 18-20. Emporia High alums are encouraged to a range of activities, including an All-Class Sip & Social on September 19 at Radius Brewing, individual class reunions and meetings and tours of Emporia High. Kansas Main Street’s annual training conference will be in Emporia on September 22-23, with the Center on Rural Innovation national conference in Emporia from September 28 to October 1.
On top of all that, Main Street’s annual Start Your Own Business class is now taking registrations for topics like business planning, market research, legal matters, cash flow, logistics, e-commerce and marketing among others. The first session will be next next month.
