Emporia’s Planning Commission is meeting Tuesday evening.
There is one discussion item on the agenda as the board discusses medical terminology in the city’s zoning regulations. The topic came to light during the early stages of Stormont Vail’s move to build its own medical clinic in west Emporia and Newman Regional Health’s resulting effort to develop zoning language adding certain benchmarks for outside medical facilities to meet before they could build in Emporia. The Planning Commission began revisiting the general topic this past June, as requested by the Emporia City Commission, with Stormont Emporia now in the ground-level construction phase and tentatively set for opening in 2028.
The meeting starts at 6 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
