The Emporia and Area Athletes of the Week were announced Monday morning.
Cael Claibourn is the Emporia Athlete of the Week. The sophomore quarterback threw for three touchdowns and ran in a couple scores in Friday’s 58-20 victory over Wichita West.
Council Grove’s David McDiffett is the Area Athlete of the Week. McDiffett recorded 20 tackles as the Braves won a top 5 battle with Osage City 22-14. It was the Braves first win over the Indians in a decade.
