Last week was a quiet one on the local data center front for the first time since the potential project was announced over 3 months ago. This week may not be.
Lyon County Community Alliance has scheduled a Let’s Learn All About Data Centers and the Flint Hills Digital Campus discussion at the Emporia Public Library from 5-6 pm Tuesday. Spokesperson Anna DeLong says she and 3 others — Edgar Esparza, Zoe Barber and Leah Green — will handle the overall presentation.
DeLong says several topics will be addressed.
The group also says it is starting a countywide tour in Emporia to be followed by stops in Lyon County’s smaller towns, with dates, times and locations to be announced.
On Wednesday, Emporians for Progress will have another demonstration encouraging support of Emporia city commissioners and city leaders. The demonstration will be at 10 am at the Emporia Public Library ahead of the City Commission’s regular meeting slate, which begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room.
Meanwhile, the data center conversations continue behind the scenes. Project spokesman Garrett Nordstrom will have an update on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:20 am Thursday.
