Solar energy will be discussed at the Lyon County Commission action meeting Thursday.
Evergy representatives Lindsay Freeman and Jason Humphrey will discuss the utility’s plans for a proposed solar energy complex surrounding the Emporia Energy Center on Road 200 near Road S. Evergy has started conversations with nearby landowners, both by mail and in person, as the company works to meet power needs it says were identified over 5 years ago. The overall process is on hold as part of Lyon County’s moratorium on solar energy policy until December 1. The Lyon County Planning and Appeals Board is working on policy adjustments at this time and may have a new package of regulations ready for approval by its November meeting.
In other business, commissioners will discuss a resolution to establish certain Motor Vehicle fees. Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy also has two payments for commission approval — almost $7,400 to Axon Enterprise as an addition of services to an existing bill and over $31,000 to Motorola.
Two executive sessions are planned. Both are for non-elected personnel.
The meeting starts at 9 am Thursday at the County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
