Emporia High football hits the road Friday night looking to remain unbeaten as the Spartans travel to take on Labette County.
Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with the RV Doc Pregame Show on KVOE AM 1400 and 96.9 FM.
The Black and Red are coming off a dominant 58-20 win over Wichita West last week, while Labette County enters the matchup following a 33-7 loss to Frontenac.
Emporia is 2-0 for the first time since 2019 and is looking for its first 3-0 start since 2012. Spartans coach Daniel Goodman says the strong start has been a lot of fun.
The Grizzlies are coming off the best season in school history, finishing with nine wins and a trip to the Sub-State Semifinal. Goodman knows Labette County will provide the toughest test of the young season.
Emporia High has scored 125 points through its first two games, with sophomore quarterback Cael Claibourn leading the way. The reigning EHS Athlete of the Week has thrown four touchdown passes and rushed for four more scores to open the season. Claibourn says it starts with the offensive line.
Claibourn hopes the scoring continues against the Grizzlies’ defense on Friday.
