The #18 Emporia State volleyball team romped early before rallying late to win in five sets over Pittsburg State 25-12, 17-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-7 at John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kan. last night. The Lady Hornets dominated the first set hitting .300 while the Gorillas hit under .100, but PSU turned the tables hitting over .300 themselves each of the next two sets. ESU eked out the fourth set despite being outhit in the frame by the Gorillas before crushing their foes in the 5th. In the race to 15, ESU had just one error and hit .389 while the Gorillas hit -.105 with seven errors. MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Lavra Krizanic stayed hot with her fifth straight match of double-digit kills leading the offense with 19 while finishing with 22 digs. Brailee Bogle earned 35 assists while the Black & Gold scored seven aces while allowing only two. ESU (13-1, 1-0 MIAA) won their 11th straight match and heads out west to face #7 Nebraska-Kearney Friday, September 24.
