Conditions were hot, then they were stormy — but there was still a good time for those attending Chase County Days this weekend.
Chelsea Harshman, the owner of Harshman Creek in downtown Cottonwood Falls, got the idea for a county festival after hearing of a similar event held years earlier.
Planning started last year. Harshman says the decision to go forward happened in January. She says much of the event schedule was thanks to the work of volunteers.
Much of the event revolved around shopping with special deals and a range of vendors, but there were also tours of the Chase County Courthouse and live music, including Brickhorse performing for a street dance Saturday.
Harshman is already planning for next year’s event, with the idea of locking it into the first weekend of October. She also wants to see more vendors and shops involved, as well as possibly an expanded lineup of live music, a fly-in and a car show.
